Knowledge, Respect, and Behavior
The world's wisest man King Solomon stated, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7).
What does this mean to you? How can you use this concept to improve your life?
Hmmm.
The word "fear" can mean "respect" in this context. So this sentence can be rephrased, "Respect for the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
I agree with this statement. Respect for God is the beginning of knowledge - the knowledge of proper behavior. Proper behavior is encapsulated in one of God's most ultimate rules - the Golden Rule.
If you're a good observer of human behavior, you'll notice that those who follow the Golden Rule tend to succeed in life; while those that don't, don't.
Poverty doesn't necessarily cause crime, but crime definitely causes poverty. So watch you behavior.
